落雁のお店であるUCHUwagashi寺町本店を改修した。”今つくっている和菓子が100年後の新しい文化になる”というお店の考えに賛同し、町家の改修工事でもこれまでの文化を継承しながら100年後も残り続けるよう設計した。虫籠窓を含む漆喰壁と瓦屋根は修復し、店内はカフェ、落雁の販売、そして落雁のデモンストレーションの空間が繋がるように配置している。町家特有の奥行きを活かしつつ、間口方向の閉鎖的な建具を取り払って一面ガラスにすることで、通りに対して開放的で明るい空間を創出した。客席奥にある黒松と景石を眺めてゆっくりとした時間を過ごしてもらいたい。

We have renovated the Teramachi main store of rakugan specialty store "UCHU wagashi." We agreed with the store's idea that "the Japanese sweets we make now will become a new culture 100 years from now," and so we decided to preserve the culture of the store while renovating it so that the store being renovated now will continue to exist for 100 years to come. The plaster walls and roof, including the Mushikomado, have been restored, and the interior is arranged so that the cafe, the rakugan sales area, and the rakugan demonstration area are all connected. While taking advantage of the depth that is unique to townhouses, we removed the closed fittings on the frontage and replaced it with glass on all sides, creating an open, bright space facing the street. We hope that guests will spend some time relaxing while gazing at the black pine and landscape stones in the rear garden.
